Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) have announced that the national women’s squad will be travelling to Namibia in Jan 2019 to play a series of five T20 International matches.

Zimbabwe women’s team will take on their Namibian counterparts on 05th, 06th, 07th, 09th & 10th Jan 2019 at Sparta Oval in Walvis Bay. A 21-member squad has been undergoing training sessions and a final squad of 14 will be announced after couple of inter-squad practice matches.

Namibia women’s team have recently achieved success in the Women’s 7s tournament held in Botswana and have played domestic competitions at home in the past few weeks. Both countries will look to start the year on a positive note, in which the all important ICC Africa regional World Cup qualifiers will also take place.

Zimbabwe women lost their opportunity in the previously held World Cup qualifiers after losing out on the spot to Uganda. Mary-Anne Musonda has been named the new captain of the Zimbabwe women’s national team, taking over the mantle from Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano.
