Zulfiqar brothers guide Hurricanes to comprehensive win in Dutch Pro-Series

Zulfiqar brothers, Sikander and Saqib starred in Hurricanes victory by 6 wickets in the first 50-overs match against Seafarers in the Dutch Pro-Series tournament.

While Sikander starred with the ball to pick up 3/20 during Hurricanes bowling innings, Saqib played the anchor role in their chase of 234 set by Seafarers. Seafarers total of 233 was built mainly on the backs of half-centuries by Tobias Visee (50) and Pieter Seelaar (68).

Seafarers were well placed at 208/5 going into the final overs but a mini-collapse saw them lose their remaining 5 wickets for addition of further 25 runs only as Sikander picked up the crucial wicket of Seelaar along with scalps of Boris Gorlee (24) and Olivier Elenbass in his spell of 6 overs. Other notable contributions for Seafarers came from Stephen Myburgh (28) and Max O’Dowd (31).

Vivian Kingma (1/29) got the wicket of Vikram Singh early but Asad Zulfiqar (40) and Saqib (85) combined well to provide a good partnership for the 2nd wicket. Once Asad got out to an unlikely bowler in Wesley Barresi (1/33), Saqib continued his innings in the company of Ben Cooper (28). Cooper was accounted by Seelaar (1/43) and Saqib was unlucky to fall short of a well deserved century. But the required number of runs was not too much of a bother for Hurricanes as Bas de Leede (44 n.o) and Sikander (11 n.o) finished off the chase comfortably in the 40th over.

The next three matches in the Pro-Series will be played on 23rd May , 24th May and 01st Jun 2018 respectively and with Netherlands set to host Ireland and Scotland for a T20I Tri-series, both Sikander and Saqib could very much be in contention for selection in the National squad for the tournament.
