Namibia Women to tour South Africa for T20 series in July 2022

Namibia Women’s U19 squad will be travelling to Benoni in South Africa from July 09th -15th, 2022 for a two (2)-match T20 series with South Africa U19 Women’s team. Namibia’s U19 Women’s squad also took part in the provincial T20 quadrangular U19 series at Steyn City, where they played with the teams from Lions U19 Women, Titans U19 Women and Storms U19 Women. Namibia U19 Women’s team will also be in contention for the lone qualification spot from the U19 Women’s World Cup Africa qualifier in September 2022 in Botswana.

All the matches in the series will be held at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, with Namibia U19 Women playing against their South African counterparts in a T20 game on 13th July. The series marks the start of the preparations for the South African U19 squad ahead of the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. The South Africa U19 squad members took part in a training camp prior to the selection, for which a group of 24 players were chosen based on their performances in the South Africa U19 Girls tournament (Namibia U19 were also scheduled to take part but withdrew) held in December 2021.
