Cricket Canada to host 2024 U19 World Cup Americas Qualifier in August 2023

The Americas Qualifiers for 2024 ICC U19 Men’s World Cup will take place from August 11th – 17th, 2023 and Cricket Canada have been given the hosting rights for the same. The Qualifier will see U19 teams from Canada, United States of America, Bermuda and Argentina compete (Suriname were scheduled to take part but have withdrawn since) in a double round-robin group stage format for the lone qualification spot into the main event in Sri Lanka, with all the matches set to take place at Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club in Toronto and Maple Leaf Cricket ground in King City.

Canada U19 teams have dominated the regional qualifiers in the past, having both won the previous four (4) editions of the Americas qualifiers from 2013-2019 and have gone onto represent the region in the U19 World Cup editions held in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022. Canada were given the automatic spot into the 2022 edition of the World Cup as the qualifiers could not be held due to COVID-19 pandemic. Canada U19 players were chosen after the National trial matches were held in King City in May 2023, while USA U19 players were chosen after their National Championships were held in California in June 2023.
