Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) will be hosting the East Asia-Pacific (EAP) regional qualifiers (Finals) event towards qualification for 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA. The qualifier (Finals) will take place from July 21st – 29th, 2023 at Amini Park stadium in Port Moresby. Men’s National teams from the host’s, Vanuatu, Philippines and Japan will be competing in the tournament in a double round-robin group stage format, for the lone qualification spot from the region into the T20 World Cup next year.
Host’s Papua New Guinea and Philippines were the direct entrants to the Finals on virtue on bring part of the previous Global qualifiers in 2022 (both, however, did not qualify for the T20 World Cup from the qualifiers), Japan and Vanuatu qualified for the Finals from the sub-regional qualifiers both hosted back in September and October 2022. All the participating teams except Japan Men have played competitive T20 International matches this year, with Philippines Men taking part in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games (SEA) in Cambodia in May, while Vanuatu team played with the “A” squad of Papua New Guinea during the Pacific Islands Cricket Challenge tournament held in Fiji.
