The Inaugural Afghanistan Premier League (APLT20) will be played between Oct 05th – 23rd, 2018 in United Arab Emirates, as announced by the organisers and Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Afghanistan Cricket Board in collaboration with an Indian based company, Sports Snixer, signed the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) in an official ceremony. ACB announced that the inaugural league will be held in UAE to attract big International stars to participate. TCM Sports Mangement Pvt. Ltd represented by Lukesh Sharma signed an agreement in New Dehli on 28th Apr 2018 with Afghanistan Cricket Board Chairman, Atif Mashal, based on which TCM will serve as the executing partner of Afghanistan Premier League (APL).

The inaugural APLT20 will be competed between 5 Franchise teams in which 23 matches (as opposed to 24 announced initially) will be played in the tournament including round-robin phase and the knock-out phase. A total of 75 Afghanistan players (International and Domestic) along with 30 Overseas professionals will be part of the player draft, which will be held soon as no specific date has been announced yet.
Afghanistan Cricket Board have announced the process for Corporates and Organisations to bid for the five City based franchises in the tournament. The Cities chosen are Kabul, Balkh, Paktia, Nangarhar and Kandahar.
