Guernsey Cricket will be hosting various age-group and senior men’s squads from Isle Of Man on a month-long tour as part of a “air-bridge” travel deal made between the governments of Guernsey and the Isle of Man. The deal allows for travel without the restriction of self-isolation upon arrival.
The Isle of Man’s U13s and U17s squads will travel on 17th Aug 2020, before playing against their host’s on 18th Aug, over two T20 matches each in both the age-groups. While the U13s teams will again play two T20 matches the next day, the U17s will compete in a 50-over game. The tour group will then head back to their country on 20th Aug and will be replaced by the U15s and the senior men’s squads, who will reach Guernsey for their leg of the tour.
The U15s squads will play a 45-over game on 21st Aug, followed by two T20 games on 22nd Aug, while Guernsey and Isle of Man’s national squads will meet each other in three T20 matches (one on 21st and remaining two on 22nd). KGV and College Field grounds will be hosting all the matches during the tour with KGV hosting all the three T20s. The first T20 game on the 21st will be played with “T20I” status, while the remaining two games will be regular T20 matches.
Domestic cricket season in Guernsey have commenced from the end of Jun 2020 after staging successful trial games en-route to resumption of cricket activities post COVID-19 lockdown relaxation norms. On the other hand, Isle of Man will be looking for good performances on the tour from the likes of George Burrows (413 runs in 9 innings), Fraser Clarke (329 runs in 14 innings), Carl Hartmann (297 runs in 15 innings), Joe Burrows (180 runs in 9 innings), Matthew Ansell (191 runs in 6 innings) and Chris Langford (183 runs in 7 innings), who have been among the runs in their 2020 domestic season across the 40-overs and T20 competitions.
Isle of Man have many bowling options among their ranks, with Ollie Webster (5 wickets), Jacob Butler (5 wickets), George Burrows (3 wickets), Joe Burrows (3 wickets), Matthew Ansell (5 wickets), Fraser Clarke (3 wickets), Edward Walker (4 wickets), Chris Langford (3 wickets) and Sam Mills (3 wickets) rolling their arms over in the domestic T20 competition.
