The 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup (CWC) Qualifier and the ICC CWC Qualifier Play-off tournaments will carry ODI status for all matches. This follows the similar structure, that was in place for the 2023 CWC edition, for which the CWC Qualifier Play-off tournament was hosted by Cricket Namibia and the CWC Qualifier was hosted by Zimbabwe Cricket.
The 2027 ICC Men’s CWC Qualifier will be an 10-team event much like the 2018 and 2023 editions held in Zimbabwe and will feature the bottom two (2) countries from the ICC Men’s ODI rankings, followed by the top four (4) teams from the CWC League 2 ODI Championship and the top four (4) teams from the CWC Qualifier Play-off tournament.
The top four (4) countries (Top two (2) teams from CWC Challenge League Group A & Group B) will join the ICC CWC Qualifiers play-off tournament and play all their matches with full ODI status. Uganda and Italy Men’s teams have already qualified for the CWC Qualifier Play-off tournament from Group B of the CWC Challenge League this year, and Cricket Kenya will be hosting the final round in Group A in October/November 2026, from which the other two (2) teams will be identified.
