Denmark Cricket Federation (DCF) have announced their 14-member men’s national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe qualifiers to be hosted by Cricket Espana at Desert Springs Resort ground from October 15th – 21st, 2021. Denmark will be competing with teams from Jersey, Italy and Germany in a double round-robin group stage format, at the completion of which the top two (2) teams will qualify towards the two (2) Global qualifiers scheduled to take place in 2022.
The selected squad is a new look team somewhat consisting of four (4) U19 players, after several confirmed starting XI players selected earlier have withdrawn their participation owing to dispute between themselves and the cricket board on selection criteria issues. This will be the first assignment for national coach Keith Dabengwa, who replaced Ruan Louw at the beginning of October 2021. The U19 players selected in the squad have also played competitive games this season, when they hosted Sweden U19 squad for a bi-lateral series.
The Danish team have already spent few days in September 2021 at the Desert Springs resort ground for their preparatory camp, after playing a T20I series with Sweden at home.
