An all-round show by Sri Lankan international and Kathmandu Kings XI captain, Farveez Maharoof, took Kathmandu to their maiden win in the ongoing 2017 TVS EPL against Chitwan Tigers at Tribhuvan University ground in Kirtipur.
Maharoof promoted himself to no.3 in the batting order and made 39 runs and in the company of Amit Shrestha, who scored 38 runs, combined for a 65 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. However, Kathmandu lost few quick wickets thereafter but managed to reach 143/7 in 19.2 overs to win the match by 3 wickets.
Chitwan’s Indian recruit Praveen Gupta was pick of the bowlers, picking 2/23. Pramesh Kumar, Shahab Alam and Diendra Singh Airee picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, Dilip Nath’s 46 at the top of the order helped Chitwan Tigers put 142 runs on board from their allotted 20 overs. Farveez Maharoof, the Kings XI skipper, was pick of the bowlers picking three wickets in his four over spell conceding only 21 runs.
Dilip Nath got good support from India’s Shabez Khan who made 27 runs. Yogendra Karki and Kamal Singh Airee contributed 17 and 12 runs each to the teams total. Amar Singh Routela and Bikram Bhusal chipped in with one wicket each.
