Minor League player draft for 2023 season to take place in June

USA Cricket and American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) have announced that the Player Draft for the 2023 season of Minor League Cricket (MiLC) will take place on 07th June 2023, with all the Minor League teams participating in the player draft to select their squads of 16 (minimum) – 18 (maximum) players. In an effort to increase the participation from the country’s youth system, each franchise will be allowed to pick two (2) U21 players and one (1) U19 player as part of their final rosters, with minimum two (2) U21 players to feature in the playing XI’s for all the teams during the competition.

All the teams can retain a minimum of three (3) players from the 2022 edition of the tournament, with the option to bring in professionals/International players based or playing in the US under the “Priority Domestic Player” and “Wildcard Player” categories outside of the draft. Seattle Thunderbolts franchise are the defending Champions from the 2022 edition of the tournament, which they won in the Final against Atlanta Fire franchise. Many of the players part of the USA domestic circuit and having played previous editions of the MiLC competition also took part in a tournament held in March 2023 to further impress the coaching staff of various franchises set to compete in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC) in July 2023.
