Nepali Women get a win on board in WWT20 Asia Qualifiers

Nepal Women’s Cricket team registered their first victory in the ongoing ICC Women’s World T20 Asia Qualifiers as they defeated Malaysia Women by 33 runs. Thailand Women also put one foot inside the final of the event as they defeated China Women by 8 wickets. Hong Kong Women play UAE Women in the final match of the day as Hong Kong too look to confirm their place in the final and qualify for the Global Qualifiers.

Nepal Women batted first and posted 108/6 in their 20 overs with Jyoti Pandey (21 off 39) and Sita Rana Magar (37 off 42) providing a good start to the innings with a 66 runs partnership for the opening wicket. Nepal lost their way as a lost a cluster of wickets thereafter to finish at 108. Jannadiah Halim (2/28) and Nur Arianna Natsya (2/15) were the pick of the bowlers for Malaysia.

Malaysia never found the acceleration in scoring going throughout their innings and kept losing wickets at regular intervals after the 10th over into their chase and were content with reaching 75/7 in their 20 overs to lose the match by 33 runs. Karuna Bhandari picked up 3/14 off her 4 overs with others sans Rubina picking up a wicket each.
