Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC U19 Cricket World Cup scheduled to be held in the West Indies from January 14th – February 05th 2022, at select venues across Antigua, Guyana, Saint Kitts, and Trinidad. Papua New Guinea U19 were awarded the place from the regional qualifiers which was cancelled owing to COVID-19 pandemic, based on the results for the previous qualifiers results in the past editions.
Papua New Guinea are placed alongside Pakistan U19, Afghanistan U19 and Zimbabwe U19 in group C of the tournament, with official warm-up fixtures scheduled against United Arab Emirates U19 and England U19. The top two (2) teams in each group at the end of single round-robin group stage format will advance to the quarterfinals stage of the tournament, while the bottom two (2) teams from each group will contest in the Plate Championships to decide the final positions in the 16-team event.
