3 Associate member country players selected in final IPL player auction list

As many as 27 players from 5 Associate member countries have registered themselves for the 2021 IPL Player auction, to be held on 18th February 2021 in Chennai, India. However, in the final list of 292 players announced for the player auction list, total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from Associate Nations are featuring.

1097 players (814 Indian and 283 overseas players) had registered in total for the player auctions, that included 9 players from United Arab Emirates, 8 players from Nepal, 7 from Scotland, 2 players from USA and a lone entry from Netherlands. In the final list announced, USA’s Ali Khan has registered himself in theĀ 40 lakh category, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane in the same category of 40 lakh & UAE’s young leg-spinner Karthik Meiyappan has registered himself in the 20 lakh category.

139 players were already retained by the franchises ahead of the auction, and will pick up specific players to complete their squads, in what would be a mini-auction rather than a full once where all the teams build their squads from scratch.

A total of 61 players could be selected during the auction, of which maximum of 22-23 would be overseas professionals. Nepal players registered in the list are Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Malla, Binod Bhandari, Karan KC, Sharad Vesawkar, Abinash Bohara and Sompal Kami. Ali Khan and Jessy Singh of USA have registered themselves for the auction list.
