USA cricket has got a good opportunity to showcase their hosting prowess for future major ICC tournaments as they get the rights to host ICC Americas “A” qualifiers for WorldT20 in Sep 2018.
Host’s USA will compete against teams from Canada, Panama and Belize for 2 qualification spots in the Americas regional Finals in 2019. Bermuda and Cayman Islands have already qualified from Americas “B” qualifiers for the Finals.
The tournament will be held from Sep 16th – 23rd, 2018. Top 2 teams from the Americas regional finals will advance to the WorldT20 Global Qualifiers.
Six teams, who took part in the ICC World T20 2016 and are not in the Top 10 MRF Tyres ICC T20I Team Rankings as as on 31st Dec 2018 will automatically qualify for the ICC World T20 Global Qualifiers, and will be joined by 8 qualifiers from the regional finals. Top 6 teams from the Global Qualifiers will compete in the WorldT20 in 2020 in Australia.
