Schedule announced for Men’s/Women’s cricket in Asian Games 2023

The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 Organizing Committee have announced the rescheduled dates for the Games in 2023, and Cricket will be as part of it with the 4-pitch and 1347-capacity venue at Zhejiang University of Technology (Pingfeng Campus) Cricket Field set to host both Men’s and Women’s medal categories from September 23rd – October 08th, 2023. Both Men’s and Women’s national squads of China have already begun their training camps at the venue for their upcoming International commitments in 2023, including the Asian Games, and China Women have already played T20 Internationals (with ranking points) on the ground during the 2023 Women’s East Asia Cup tournament held in May 2023.

Both the events will be played in T20 format with ranking points on offer towards ICC Team rankings table, with Men’s event to take place from 28th September – 08th October, while the Women’s event will take place from September 19th – 28th. 9 Countries to take part in Women’s Medal category (seedings based on T20I ranking, as of 01st June 2023). 15 Countries to take part in Men’s Medal category (seedings based on T20I ranking, as of 01st June 2023). The draw for the Quarterfinals for both the Men’s and Women’s competitions will be decided once the other quarterfinalists are known after the end of the group stages.

The construction of the venue began on November 17, 2020 and passed the main structure inspection on June 30, 2021, before the completion of the project was done in October 2021. The indoor gymnasium will be renovated into activity center, conference center, and other supporting facilities for teachers and students based on the original structure after the completion of 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. The organizers have strictly stuck to making the whole pavilion structure with prefabricated steel to reduce carbon footprint, and a rainwater recycling and treatment system set up beneath the field, collecting rainwater to water the plants after filtering during rain interruptions. The oval has specifications of long axis of 150m and a short axis of 120m based on current terrain of the campus, and covers an area of about 13,500sq.m as a whole.

    Hi,

There should have been a place for Combodia men’s cricket team in the list of participants. Cambodia was the Gold medallist in Cricket in this year’s SouthEastAsian Games. As the total T20I matches played by Cambodia is only 3, they do not have any rank in T20I cricket.
Cambodia did beat Singapore and Malaysia men’s teams on its way to clinching GOLD in SEA Games.
