Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) acting general manager Givemore Makoni has confirmed that the country will be hosting both UAE and Afghanistan in Apr 2019 for separate ODI series respectively at home, after a long gap in their International calendar for almost more than 6-7 months.
While United Arab Emirates will be playing a 4-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, Afghanistan are expected to play a 5-match ODI series against them. Zimbabwe will not feature in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, after having lost their chance of qualifying in the 2018 ICC World Cup qualifiers held in Mar 2018.
UAE have recently concluded a 3-match ODI and T20I series respectively at home against the visiting Nepal squad, while Afghanistan are all set to host Ireland in India for a full tour consisting of ODI, T20I and a one-off Test match in Feb/Mar 2019. Afghanistan’s last visit to Zimbabwe for a bi-lateral series was in 2017, while this will be UAE’s first bi-lateral series visit to the country. All three countries were however involved in the ICC World Cup qualifiers, with UAE registering victories over both Zimbabwe and Afghanistan during the tournament.
