Qualification rules announced for 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia

International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced that the teams who reach the Super 12 stage of the upcoming 2021 T20 World Cup in Oman and the UAE will earn automatic qualification to the event in Australia next year. From the 12 automatic qualifiers, the winner and runner up of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 plus the next six highest ranked teams (as of November 15, 2021) will go straight through to the Super 12 stage of Australia 2022.

The remaining four teams from the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will play in the First Round of Australia 2022, along with the four (4) teams that qualify from the two (2) Global qualifiers scheduled to take place next year, for which the regional qualification events will be taking place in October and November 2021.

Nepal, Singapore, UAE, Zimbabwe, Philippines and Hong Kong have already qualified for the Global qualifiers in 2022, with remaining six (6) teams to be determined from the regional qualifiers taking place in the Asian, Americas, Europe and Africa regions.
