Tait appointed as bowling coach ahead of T20 World Cup for Afghanistan

Former Australian pace bowler Shaun Tait has been appointed as the bowling coach for the Afghanistan men’s national squad, ahead of their tour of Sri Lanka for CWC Super League ODI series against Pakistan, followed by ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman in October/November 2021.

Tait has been part of Australia squad for 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup and 2010 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, and has represented his country in 35 ODIs, 21 T20Is and three Tests for Australia taking 62, 28 and five wickets respectively in each of the formats. Tait is a Level-two certified coach from Cricket Australia and has coached various domestic and franchise-based T20 league teams including Melbourne Renegades in BBL (Big Bash League).

Afghanistan are scheduled to play Pakistan for their CWC Super League series in September, and the national squad are currently playing practice-matches with the national U19 squad, while some of the top players of the squad having played and currently playing in England during the T20 Blast tournament and the Hundred.
