Cricket Ireland have named the Men’s squads for their upcoming tours of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in March/April 2023, which will see them back in Test whites after a long gap, with a total of three (3) Test matches included in both the tours. Both the tours will also have an ODI series, with the Bangladesh series to also feature T20I matches.
Ireland Men’s team will play a warm-up game in Bangladesh before the start of the tour, with the Test match taking place at the end of tour from April 04th – 08th at SBNCS in Dhaka, following the conclusion of the three (3) match ODI and T20I series at Sylhet and Chattogram. The Sri Lanka tour will begin with the Test match at Galle from April 18th – 22nd, followed by a 2-match ODI series at Colombo. On Paul Stirling not featuring in the Test squads, Head Coach Heinrich Malan said “This year, with a big white ball focus in terms of a pinnacle event in the World Cup, we got to that sort of agreement that up until the World Cup he will only play white ball cricket for us. And in the same breath, get a little bit of a balance from a wellbeing point of view with him missing some of that Test cricket. Which again, it creates some opportunities for some of the lads that we want to see in there.”
