Saint Lucia becomes the second Caribbean Island after St Vincent and the Grenadines to announced the launch of their domestic T10 competition in Jun 2020, as the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet will play host to St Lucia T10 Blast from 23rd Jun – 08th Jul, 2020 cricket behind closed doors.
The competition will feature St Lucia’s local players and professional cricketers, who have participated in Saint Lucia Cricket Association (SLNCA) inter-district 2-day competition and St Lucia Premier League (SPL T20). All the matches will be live streamed on the Fancode App in the Indian territory, owned by Dream11, which is the title sponsor for the tournament. Two matches will be played at each match day, beginning at 12:30 pm local time and at 2:30 pm local time. All matches will be live streamed and broadcast on Local TV by WinnersTV.
Gros Islet, Babonneau, Central and South Castries, Mabouya Valley, Mon Repos, Vieux Fort, Choiseul, Laborie Bay and Soufriere will be the teams in the tournament and will be divided into two groups of five teams each. The top two teams at the end of the round-robin group stage will advance to the semifinals stage of the tournament. The teams will have a squad of maximum 15 players, with each team retaining eight players (including the marquee and minimum of two U-19 players), while the remaining seven will be picked from the player draft.
The clubs, who have got the permission to start training after the initial start date was postponed after discussion with the sponsors and also the readiness of the ground itself, played themselves back to fitness and match levels with practice games between themselves. Darren Sammy, Johnson Charles and West Indies U19 Captain Kimani Melius, along with the likes of Ackeem Auguste, Zayee Antoine, Caleb Thomas, Stephen Abraham, Keddy Lesporis, Jamaal James, Jonnel Eugene, Jaden Elibox, Keygan Arnold, Audy Alexander, Dalton Polius, Larry Edward, Tarryck Gabriel and Garvin Serieux are some of the players, who will take part in the competition.
