NPCA (Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association) are currently hosting the Men’s Super Division and Division 1 and 2 tournaments in the T20 format, which started from 30th January 2022 at various venues across Nairobi to resume domestic cricket proceedings in the country. NPCA had earlier organized the 50-overs competitions in 2021 to start domestic cricket season for Kenya players.
The ten (10) provincial clubs competing in the Super Division league are Swamibapa Sports Club, Kanbis Sports Club, Sikh Union, Ruaraka Sports Club, Stray Lions Club, SCLPS, Sir Ali Muslim Cricket Club, Ngara Sports Club, Obuya Academy and Nairobi Gymkhana Cricket Club, as it was in the 50-overs competition as well. The domestic competitions are providing the national squad members much needed game-time in the middle, as Kenya Cricket have lots of ICC tournaments lined up for the Men’s national squad in 2022. Kenya Men’s team will be travelling to Uganda in June 2022 and Jersey in July/August 2022 to take part in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the CWC Challenge League B events (50-overs format competition).
Stray Lions Club are currently leading the points table in the Championship, which will run until the end of March 2022, with Swamibapa Sports Club, SCLPS and Obuya Academy with equal points in 2nd place in the points table. The evergreen Collins Obuya is leading the scoring charts after five (5) completed matches for most of the teams in the competition, with close to 350 runs already to his name, followed by Alex Obanda, Sachin Gill and Maurice Ouma in the list. Among the bowlers, Jignesh Hirani is leading the wicket-taking charts with 12 scalps so far, followed by Aum Patel, Shem Ngoche and Hiren Varaiya in the list.
