Netherlands selectors have announced the 14-member Women’s squad, which will take part in ICC Women’s WorldT20 qualifiers at home in Jul 2018.
Heather Siegers leads the side, which recently took part in ECB Women’s County Championships Division 3. While Ireland Women, Scotland Women, Uganda Women & Thailand Women are placed in one group, Netherlands Women, Bangladesh Women, Papua New Guinea Women and United Arab Emirates Women are placed in the other.
Top 2 teams will qualify to play in the ICC Women’s World T20 in the West Indies from 09th to 24th Nov, 2018.
Jolien van Vliet was the top scorer for Netherlands in Division 3 of ECB Women’s County Championships with 120 runs from 6 matches at an average of 40. Denise Hannema, although played only 3 games, showed much promise as she made 100 runs in total with a highest of 63 n.o. Cher van Slobbe, Heather Siegers & Babette de Leede didn’t score as much as they would have liked, but they remain the core of the batting department.
Heather Siegers will once again be crucial with the ball (picked up 9 wickets in Division 2 with an economy rate of 2.43 and strike rate of 12.33) for Netherlands along with Annemijn Thomson (7 wickets at a strike rate of 19.71), Silver Siegers (7 wickets at a strike rate of 20.57) & Lisa Klokgieters (7 wickets at a strike rate of 31.43).
