Oman complete 3-0 series victory against much improved USA in 3rd match

USA put up a much improved batting performance on their tour of Oman in the 3rd match of the series but lost the close match eventually by only 3 wickets as Oman completed a 3-0 series victory at Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat, Oman.

Oman won the toss and put USA into bat first. USA didn’t have the best of starts as they were reduced to 56/4 in the 17th over. Opener Nisarg Patel made a brisk 47 runs off 75 deliveries at the top of the order with fighting half centuries from Roy Silva (51 off 47) and Timil Patel (57 off 62) with a useful cameo from Mrunal Patel (32 off 49) took USA to their final score of 222 before getting all out in 49.3 overs.

Fiaz Bhutt (3/43) was the pick of the bowlers for Oman with Nester Dhamba & Khawar Ali picking up 2 wickets apiece.

Oman’s chase was orchestrated by runs at the top of the order by Khawar Ali (45 off 88), Aaqib Ilyas (65 off 65) & Zeeshan Maqsood (38 off 14) but USA hit back with regular wickets at crucial junctures to be at 185/5 in the 38th over.

Oman lost 2 more wickets soon thereafter and it took a sensible approach from Muhammed Nadeem (12 n.o off 31) and captain Sultan Ahmad (16 n.o off 10) to take their team to victory as Oman reached 224/7 in 46.3 overs to win the match by 3 wickets and wrap up the series 3-0.
