Cricket Oman registered a comfortable 117 runs victory over USA in the 1st match of the 3-match series (50 overs).
Batting first, Oman managed to post 225 before getting all out in their 50 overs. Oman bowlers then restricted USA to only 108 runs in 30.4 overs to win the match.
Oman’s total was mainly due to top order runs from Vaibhav Wategaonkar (72) and Aaqib Ilyas (31) with handy contributions coming from Sultan Ahmed (28) & Ajay Lalcheta (33) as well.
For USA, Roy Silva (3/36) was the pick of the bowlers with Timil Patel (2/44) and Elmore Hutchinson (2/43) picking up couple of wickets.
USA batsmen found it tough going in their chase as regular wickets dented any chances of posing a threat to Oman’s total. Only skipper Ibrahim Khaleel (37) and Roy Silva (18) managed to spend some time in the middle.
Bilal Khan (2/15), Ajay Lalcheta (2/15), Khawar Ali (2/32) and Jay Odedra (3/29) had a good outing with the ball for Oman.
USA and Oman have had recent encounters in WCL Division 4 and 3 and while Oman have progressed to Division 2, USA have managed to retain their position in Division 3.
