Zimbabwe to host 2018 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers

The ICC Board meeting in Auckland, New Zealand have announced that the hosting rights for the 2018 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers has been awarded to Cricket Zimbabwe (ZC).

The global event will be held in March 2018, that gives very little time for teams to start preparing themselves.

Following the positive meetings between ICC Chairman, Shashank Manohar’s visit to Zimbabwe few months back and Zimbabwe Cricket representatives, the Board has been assured of all security and hosting arrangements for the global event that will feature the bottom 4 countries from the current ODI points table and 6 Associate countries (Top 4 from WCL Championship and Top 2 from ICC WCL Division 2).

It gives huge impetus for Zimbabwe Cricket to push for the 2 spots, which will be available from the tournament to qualify for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England & Wales.
