Finland look to develop Senior & U22 squads in 2018

It’s going to be an exciting 2018 ahead for Cricket Finland as they outlined their growth strategies for 2018.

Finland’s national side will take part in the regional European qualifiers for World T20, tentatively scheduled for end of August 2018. The venues and fixtures are not out yet but the team is expected to start their training in the coming months for the tournament.

Cricket Finland have also announced that an official U22 squad will be formed to develop alongside the senior men’s team to create pathways for U22 players to gradually move onto senior ranks.

Maneesh Chauhan has been roped in as the Coach/Mentor for the U22 squad and will work closely with national head coach Yasir Abdul Quadir in identifying new talent from across the country.

Kerava National Cricket Ground will host Elite T20 series tournament for both senior and U22 squads on summer weekends.

A lot lined up for Cricket Finland in 2018 and we hope to see more collaborations between the Nordic countries in Europe and grow the sport beyond the usual suspects from European region.
