ICC awards T20I status to all matches played in the recently concluded ACC Women’s Asia Cup

As declared by ICC earlier that all Women’s T20 International matches between all member countries (Full members and Associate members) would be awarded T20I status from 01st Jul 2018, there was a change in the stance in the recently concluded ICC Annual conference in Dublin, Ireland.

In a major decision made towards the matches played by Malaysia and Thailand Women’s Team in the recently concluded Asian Cricket Council Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia, all the matches have been officially awarded T20I matches, which effectively means that Thailand Women’s brilliant win over Sri Lanka Women’s team in the tournament will now be classified as an official T20I game.

Thailand Women won two matches (against Malaysia Women and Sri Lanka Women) from their total 5 matches played in the Women’s Asia Cup and they are currently in Netherlands to take part in ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifiers from Jul 07th – 14th, 2018.

The T20I status change for Men’s category will commence from 01st Jan 2019 onwards following the cut-off point of qualification for ICC World T20 2020 on 31st Dec 2018.
