Gibraltar Cricket to kick-off 2022 ECS T10 season for European Cricket Network

The First event in the European Cricket Series (ECS) T10 season for 2022 will take place in Gibraltar from 30th January – 09th February, 2022 at the Europa Point Stadium. Five domestic clubs (Bavaria FCC, Calpe Giants, Pirates CC, Sloggers CC and Tarik CC) in Gibraltar will be competing against each other for the title, with two (2) games scheduled each day with start times at 5pm and 7:30pm respectively. The matches will be live streamed on ECN (European Cricket Network) website and the full schedule can be found here.

Iain Latin (Bavaria CC), Paul Edgeller (Calpe Giants), Kieron Ferrary (Pirates CC), Charles Harrison (Sloggers CC) and Avinash Balaji Pai (Tarik CC) will be leading their respective teams in the competition. Gibraltar men’s national players will be in action, and the likes of Balaji Pai (who is among the top Associate Captains in 2021 in terms of individual performances), Joseph Marples, Louis Bruce (who is in the Top 25 T20I run-scorers in 2021 among Associate member players) and Chris Delaney will look to start their preparations towards International calendar for 2022, that includes the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe sub-regional qualifiers.

Other domestic players to watch out for in the tournament will be Lee Rimmer, Paul Edgeller, Lorne Burns, Kenroy Nestor, Andrew James, Sameer Nayak, Maanav Nayak and Ric Hatchman, who all have played for the Costa Del Sol team in the recent ECS T10 Spanish Finals. Kayron Stagno, Matt Hunter and Kieron Ferrary will also look to play key roles for their respective teams in the competition. There will be International representation in the tournament as well, with Ravi Panchal of Spain national squad and Sam Houghton of Croatia turning up for the event.

There will be more domestic cricket happening in Gibraltar, with the GPL T20 (Gibraltar Premier League) slated for a March 2022 start, for which a player draft will also be held at the Pavilion Cricket bar, Europa Point on Saturday 05th February 2022. Hence, performances in the ECS T10 event will definitely have an impact on player selections for GPL tournament.

The ECS T10 tournament begins the 2022 season for European Cricket Network (ECN) as well, who also have the 2nd edition of European Cricket League (ECL) scheduled to take place at Cartama Oval in the months of February and March. Following which, much like the previous year, the ECS T10 events will be held across Europe in many of the ICC Associate member countries.

    • Hello

There are no stats or scorecards available for previous domestic years in Gibraltar cricket, as this T10 is the first outdoor domestic tournament being held after the construction of the new Europa Point stadium.

    • Hello Jatin

Balaji Avinash Pai is the Captain of Gibraltar Men’s National Squad. He is a bowling all-rounder and bats in the middle order in the national team. At club level, it may vary.

      Thanks and regards,
