Richelieu T20 Franchise Competition to resume in Namibia in October 2020

Richelieu T20 Franchise Competition, organized by Cricket Namibia (CN) in March 2020, will resume in the first week of October 2020, after the competition was put on hold due to COVID-19 pandemic outbreak after completion of the first 8 matches in the group stages. The competition will resume on 03rd October and will finish the remaining 4 group-stage fixtures and the knock-out stages (semifinals and the final) on 04th October 2020.

Defending champions King Price Kings from the 2019 edition of the tournament, MR 24/7 Emergency Services, M&M Signs Strikers and BA Blasting Namibia will face each other in the remaining group fixtures, after BA Blasting remained unbeaten in all their four group stage matches played so far in the competition. King Price Kings and M&M Signs Strikers registered two wins from their four group stage fixtures, while MR 24/7 Emergency Services will look to open their points account in the competition in the remaining two matches.

BA Blasting can confirm their top place finish and the place in the final by winning one of their remaining two matches, while the teams finishing 2nd and 3rd in the points table will face each other for a place in the final. All the team squads consisted of four national team players, four under-19 players, one marquee player and six other club players. The final of the competition will be streamed live on the Richelieu Namibia and Cricket Namibia Facebook pages.

Jan-Pierre Kotze (King Price Kings) with 129 runs from 4 innings, Gerhard Erasmus (BA Blasting Namibia) with 122 runs from 4 innings, Jan Balt (King Price Kings) with 103 runs from 3 innings, Malan Kruger (MR24/7) with 103 runs from 4 innings and Zane Green (MR24/7) with 95 runs from 4 innings were the top 5 run-scorer’s in the competition, when the event was suspended and postponed due to the pandemic. Karl Birkenstock (BA Blasting Namibia) and Ramon Wilmot (MR24/7) were leading the bowling charts with 8 wickets in the competition, followed by Bernard Scholtz (BA Blasting Namibia) and Ben Shikongo (MR24/7) with 7 wickets each, and Nicolaas Scholtz (M&M Signs Strikers) / Mika Mutumbe (BA Blasting Namibia) with 6 wickets each to their names.
