Afghanistan’s next spin-sensation after Rashid, Mujeeb Zadran, will get to play and learn against one of the best red-ball bowlers in current International Cricket, India’s Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin was announced as the captain for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kings XI Punjab on their official social media platforms.
An uncanny ability to take wickets at crucial times matched with bags of experience, @ashwinravi99 is a proven winner. The New #KingOfTheNorth ladies and gentlemen! #LivePunjabiPlayPunjabi pic.twitter.com/iNaI9TH1lN

Mujeeb was snapped up by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping payout of INR 4 Crores in the IPL Player Auctions held in Jan 2018. The young mystery spinner from Afghanistan’s Khost region will also get to be mentored by former India opener, Virender Sehwag. A reputation already built up by his Man-of-the-Series performance in ACC U19 Asia Cup and representing Afghanistan in the semi-finals of ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, Mujeeb will definitely be Kings XI Punjab’s X-factor in the 2018 IPL and along with Ashwin, will form an exciting off-spinning combination for the team.
Mujeeb congratulated Ashwin on Twitter and the new captain obliged by acknowledging his wishes:
Thanks Mujeeb.
