Jersey bowlers warmed up well for the upcoming WCL Challenge as they got the opportunity to bowl in their 2nd game against Singapore Crescents at Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Malaysia.

Cornelis Bodenstein (2/13), Anthony Hawkins-Kay (0/16 off 8), Nathaniel Watkins (2/31), Elliot Miles (2/22) and Charles Perchard (1/9) got their running boots in high gear once the match started after a rain halt which saw 10 overs being lost for both the sides, as they look to display similar performances against Malaysia, Uganda, Denmark, Vanuatu & Bermuda in the WCL event.

While the bowlers did their job by dismissing SG Crescents for 148 in the 39th over, Singapore national captain Chetan Suryavanshi played out a lone hand in their innings, scoring 51 off 50 deliveries.

The batting department wobbled but the chase was not too big to be worried about as Jersey reached the target in the 33rd over and won the match by 4 wickets. Ben Stevens continued his good form with the bat, scoring a quickfire 49 runs from 35 deliveries and there were runs for Nat Watkins (28 off 53) and Jonty Jenner (25 off 28) as well.

Anish Param picked up three wickets from his four overs for SG Crescents, while Singapore national players, Dharmichand Mulewa and Anantha Krishna picked up a wicket apiece.

Jersey have thus completed their line-up of practice games against Kent 2nd’s and Singapore Crescents as the matches against Hampshire 2nd’s were cancelled due to weather.
