ACB to host 8th edition of Shpageeza Cricket League in July 2022

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have announced that the eighth (8th) edition of the domestic T20 tournament, Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL), will be held at Kabul International Stadium in the month of July 2022 and the Board has issued the Tender offer for Title sponsorship for the 8th edition. The player draft for the tournament will take place in Kabul on 10th June, with each squad to feature the national squad members, along with U19 players and other domestic performers from the various regions.

The tournament will see the six teams, namely Amo Sharks, Band-e-Amir Dragons, Bost Defenders, Kabul Eagles, Mis-e-Ainak Knights and Spinghar Tigers joined by two new teams (Hindukhus Stars and Pamir Zalmi) for the 2022 edition of the competition. Mis Ainak Kights and The Ayubi Kabul Eagles are the defending Champions from the 2019 and 2020 editions of the competition. Shpageeza tournament has got official T20 status along with the List-A and the multi-day competition in the country on the basis of their full membership with International Cricket Council (ICC). All the teams will play with each other in a single round-robin group stage format, following which the top four (4) teams will advance to the knock-out stage of the tournament.

According to the Domestic Cricket Department plan for the year 2022, a total of four (4) One-Day events that includes a List-A event, three (3) T20 format events including Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL) 2022, two (2) Multi-day events including the Abdali First-Class event, and an age level event are included in the domestic cricket schedule for the year.
