Sri Lanka Board (SLC) has announced the commencement of the registration process for 2nd edition of Lanka Premier League (LPL), set to start from 21st June 2021. The player registrations will be available until 27th June 2021 at the dedicated registration link created for the process.
The overseas players who can register for 2021 LPL are the one who have represented their respective National teams, or have played first-class cricket, or have played in any franchise-based T20 league organized by a full member board. The 2nd edition of the tournament will be held from 29th July – 22nd August, 2021 and will be competed between five franchise squads consisting of 20 players.
The squad of 20 players will contain 14 local/domestic players and 6 overseas professionals. Also, the teams can retain 4 players (2 local and 2 overseas) from the inaugural edition squads that competed in 2020. The teams will be allowed to choose an overseas player in the Icon and Diamond categories in the pre-draft selection process, while the other five overseas players will be selected from Gold (2) and Classic (2) categories.
During the matches, at any given time, a playing XI must include a minimum of Three (3) overseas players and may
include a maximum of Four (4) overseas players.
