Hong Kong register comprehensive victory in 1st match against Netherlands

Hong Kong have started their tour of UAE on the most positive front as they defeated Netherlands comprehensively by 7 wickets in the 1st 50-overs match in the 2-match practice series.

Batting first, Netherlands were bowled out for 170 runs which Hong Kong chased down losing 3 wickets in the chase. Their innings started on a bad note as they were reduced to 28/3 early on following double strike by Nadeem Ahmed. Roelof van der Merwe (41 off 37) and Max O’Dowd (38 off 50) steadied the innings but got out trying to push the scoring.

Ehsan Khan (4/35 off 9) broke through the late batting order and was well supported by Nadeem Ahmed (3/28 off 9). Aizaz Khan also chipped in with 2/34.

Anshuman Rath & Chris Carter (28 off 53) gave a good start with a 67 runs partnership for the opening wicket. Rath (73 off 90) & Nizakat Khan (51 n.o off 58) scored half-centuries to guide the team to victory.

Both teams play their 2nd 50-overs match tomorrow before their final round of I-Cup and WCL Championship matches starting Nov 29th until Dec 08th, 2017.
