Denmark Cricket Federation (DCF) have announced the appointment of Ruan Louw on a 2-year contract as the new head coach and high-performance manager for the men’s national squad.
The position was left vacant after Jeremy Bray took up the position of head coach/director of cricket for Vanuatu Cricket Association. Ruan Louw is expected to take charge from June 2021 and will have a busy 2-year period as the national squad does through qualification pathway events in both 50-overs and T20 formats.
Ruan is a Level 4 ECB master coach and also has a PG Diploma in Elite Cricket. The 45-year old was born in South Africa, but is a British passport holder.
Ruan Louw is currently serving as Director of Cricket at Exeter University, and has extensive coaching experience with stints with Hertfordshire (2012-13), Middlesex Cricket (2013-15), The University of York Head Coach (2015-17) and Yorkshire County Cricket Club Women’s 1st XI Head Coach (2016-17). He has also spent much time with Yorkshire CCC men’s 1st XI and was Yorkshire Diamonds Assistant Coach.
More recently he has been Coaching Director at Nelson Cricket in New Zealand and spent time working with the Central Stags as well as assisting with the Pakistan national side in their preparations for their ODI’s against the Blackcaps.
Denmark’s national squad will be taking part in 2022 ICC T20 World Cup europe sub-regional qualifiers in Belgium in July 2021, followed by trip to Canada in August 2021 for the 2nd round of 2023 CWC Challenge League event.
